In the latest AP Top 25 poll released on Sunday, the North Carolina Tar Heels moved up four spots and is now close to the Top 15

The UNC Football program continues its climb in the rankings in hopes of finishing this 2020 college football season strong.

Following their dominating win over Miami on Saturday afternoon, the Tar Heels have jumped up in the latest Associated Press Top 25 rankings that were released on Sunday afternoon. North Carolina climbed up four spots from No. 20 to No. 16 in the latest polls.

After being unranked a few weeks back, the Tar Heels now appear in the rankings for the second-straight week and are trending up. This is a good sign for UNC as they will have their eyes on the upcoming College Football Playoff Rankings that are released on Tuesday. UNC needs to pass Miami and hope that both Clemson and Notre Dame make the playoff in order to receive an Orange Bowl birth.

Still, moving up in the AP rankings is a positive thing.

The top 4 in the poll stayed the same with Alabama taking the top spot followed by No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Clemson. But there was a big shakeup in the Top 10 as Coastal Carolina makes an appearance at No. 9. Cincinnati (No. 6), Indiana (No. 7), Iowa State (No. 8) and Georgia (No. 10) also moved up in the Top 10.

After the loss to North Carolina, Miami dropped from No. 9 to No. 19 and N.C. State stayed put at No. 24 rounding out the ACC teams in the poll.

Now, all eyes will be on Tuesday night for the Tar Heels as they hope they have done enough to show the committee they should be ranked ahead of Miami. Getting to that Orange Bow would be huge for this program in Mack Brown’s second season back at Chapel Hill.
