Both 2021 UNC Basketball recruiting commits have moved up in the latest ESPN Top 100 rankings that were updated this week

The UNC Basketball program has two recruits signed to their 2021 recruiting class, a year after turning in a six-man 2020 class that was ranked in the Top 2. While the recruiting period is far from over, as it stands now the Tar Heels only have three active offers out to recruits.

The goal is that they add at least one of those three five-star players that has an active offer, giving them at minimum a three-man class. Roy Williams and his staff could look to other recruits down the line for new offers in order to fill some spots.

But right now, it’s a two man class and it might be flying under the radar.

Both D’Marco Dunn and Dontrez Styles received a rankings boost in the ESPN Top 100 update on Wednesday afternoon.  Some good news for Williams and his staff with this class.

The four-star shooting guard Dunn was the biggest riser of the two, climbing from No. 87 overall to No. 48 as he cracked the Top 5. Dunn still holds his four-star ranking on ESPN but him rising that many spots is a good thing. Dunn has steadily upped his game over the past year and drew interest from some big programs but UNC was fortunate to land him and he could be a key piece for the future.

As for Styles, he also climbed in the rankings. He’s now ranked No. 58 climbing a few spots since his latest ranking. The four-star forward was the first player to commit to North Carolina for the 2021 class, doing so after receiving significant interest from the program late last year.

With the updated rankings, Dunn is now the top-ranked player in the state of North Carolina per ESPN. Styles is ranked second while Jonas Aidoo (No. 70 overall) is third and Bobby Pettiford (No. 90 overall) is fourth.

Next. Tar Heels add one more game to schedule. dark
