A top target of the UNC Football program has officially announced his decision date and things are looking good for the Tar Heels in this race

The UNC Football program is currently preparing for their regular season finale at Miami this Saturday in a game that will have Orange Bowl implications. But while Mack Brown and his staff prepare for this weekend’s tilt, the Tar Heels will soon find out their status for a recruit in a future class.

Four-star wide receiver Tychaun Chapman has become a very important recruit for North Carolina’s 2022 class and he’s ready to make his decision.

Chapman revealed to 247 Sports recruiting analyst Brian Dohn that he’s ready to make his decision on December 19th. The recruit will verbally commit to a program and end his recruitment then.

"“I am announcing Dec. 19,” said Chapman, who is the No. 19 receiver in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. “That is right after signing day and I feel like it will be a good way to start off my class.”"

The move comes just three days after National Signing Day begins on December 16th, giving one program a late addition for the 2022 class. After receiving 24 offers in his recruitment Chapman is down to five teams as he will pick between Florida State, Alabama, Maryland, Penn State and North Carolina.

The Virginia, Beach native is ranked as the No. 161 overall recruit, No. 19 wide receiver and No. 8 player in the state of Virginia per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. Going into his decision in a few weeks, many believe the Tar Heels have picked up the momentum and are the favorites to land the receiver.

UNC holds all four predictions on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor, including a few confidence picks of 7. That bodes well for their chances in a few weeks.
