Three-point shooting must improve…

A dark area from the Maui Invitational and UNC’s first game against College of Charleston was on the perimeter. This was a problem last season as the Tar Heels simply didn’t have the shooters to knock down open shots and make the defense pay.

Through the first four games of this season, there have been struggles in that area again.

The Tar Heels are shooting just 27.1 percent from the three-point line this year, ranking 232nd in the nation. This includes most recently UNC shooting 11 percent from the three, making just 1 of 11 attempts against Texas.

That’s not good.

Now, there is a lot of time left to improve this but the Tar Heels must find a way to hit the three-ball or they could struggle to score once again. They do have good shooters on the roster but so far that hasn’t shown and it is giving fans flashbacks of last season when they just simply weren’t a good shooting team.

If this doesn’t improve soon, UNC is going to struggle in games and if their opponents get hot from beyond the arc they will have to play comeback like they did against Texas despite falling short.
