A big UNC Football recruiting target announces that he will visit Chapel Hill for Saturday’s game against No. 2 Notre Dame

The UNC Football program has the chance to make a statement on Friday afternoon when they host No. 2 Notre Dame in Chapel Hill.

Sitting at 6-2, the Tar Heels need to win out and receive some help along the way in order to make the Atlantic Coast Conference title game. But they are also playing to move up in the CFP rankings and land a New Year’s Six Bowl.

Friday’s game is huge with CFP implications and it’s also an opportunity for the Tar Heels to impress on the recruiting trail with a home game as well.

Five-star offensive tackle Zach Rice announced earlier in the week that he will be in attendance for Friday’s showdown between the Tar Heels and Fighting Irish:

The Lynchburg, Virginia native is a big target for the Tar Heels in the 2022 recruiting class and recently included UNC in his Final 8 schools. UNC has apparently made up some ground in this recruitment as Rice was also in attendance for a game earlier this season.

Rice is ranked as the No. 19 overall recruit, No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 2 player in the state of Virginia per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 31 offers but cut his list down to UNC, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State and Virginia in his Top 8.

That’s some tough competition for UNC in that group but with him being able to get on campus for an “unofficial” visit on Friday, they have the chance to really impress him with their showdown against the Fighting Irish.
