UNC Football: Tar Heels target sets announcement date
By Zack Pearson
A top UNC Football recruiting target has set a decision date for when he will announce his school and the Tar Heels appear to be in great shape.
The UNC Football program is on a bye week here with a 6-2 record and a big game coming up against No. 2 Notre Dame next Friday. With three regular season games left, the Tar Heels are hoping to finish strong and land in a big bowl game.
While Mack Brown and his staff prepare for a really good Notre Dame team, the future of the program received an update in terms of recruiting.
Four star defensive back Tayon Holloway is set to announce his college decision by setting a decision date on Friday. Holloway told 247 Sports that he will be making his college decision on Christmas Day.
Holloway will pick between UNC, Florida State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and Maryland, naming those programs as his finalists on Friday.
Holloway is ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 138 overall recruit, No. 15 defensive back, and No. 6 player in the state of Virginia per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound defensive back would be a big get for any program as he’s one of the best at his position.
While there is still a month to go until he announces, it appears as if the Tar Heels may have the upperhand in this recruitment. UNC did pickup a few Crystal Ball predictions over the past few days and lead the way in that 247 Sports predictor. Rumblings have stated that UNC has picked up momentum over the past few months as well.
Can Mack Brown and his staff land their first big recruit in 2022? Stay tuned.
