UNC Football: Tar Heels left out of AP Top 25 again
By Zack Pearson
For the second-straight week, the UNC Football program is left out of the Associated Press Top 25 college football poll
Despite the UNC Football program winning their second-straight game with an impressive offensive performance, they still fell short of making the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The AP released their new poll on Sunday afternoon and the Tar Heels were left out of it once again. Instead, the Tar Heels sat at No. 26 as they received the most votes among any team that was NOT ranked in the poll with 101 votes.
Tulsa was the lone newcomer to the polls after another win moved them to 4-1, jumping ahead of the Tar Heels to get into the Top 25. But other than that, every other team essentially moved up or stayed put for the most part. That included Louisiana-Lafayette (24), Auburn (23), Texas (22), Liberty (21) and Northwestern (20).
Alabama retained the top spot after not playing this week followed by No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Clemson and No. 5 Texas A&M.
The Atlantic Coast Conference had just three teams in the poll again as Miami fell from No. 9 to No. 12 in the rankings after struggling against Virginia Tech.
As for the Tar Heels, the bottom line continues to be that they need to win out and take care of their own business. They head into a bye week and will host No. 2 Notre Dame in Chapel Hill the day after Thanksgiving. They also have a matchup against Miami the week after that. It’s a long shot that they reach the ACC title game but the Tar Heels are playing for some upsets and the chance to appear in the College Football Playoff Rankings.
