During the UNC Football program’s dramatic comeback win on Saturday, the team received some good news in terms recruiting-wise in the future.
Five-star offensive tackle Zach Rice took to Twitter to make an update in his recruitment and it’s good news for the Tar Heels. Rice revealed his Top 8 schools via Twitter, saying his recruitment is 100% open and listing UNC, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, Virginia, LSU, and Ohio State as his final eight:
The Tar Heels have some tough competition in that final eight as his list is loaded with big-name programs. But don’t count Mack Brown and his team out just yet as they have seemed to make up some ground lately.
Rice was in attendance for a recent UNC game on October 24th, watching the Tar Heels beat N.C. State in Kenan Memorial Stadium. That visit showed there was serious interest from the five-star in the Tar Heels.
The offensive tackle is ranked as the No. 29 overall recruit, No. 2 offensive tackle, and No. 3 player in the state of Virginia per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.
Rice would be a huge get in the 2022 recruiting class for the Tar Heels, one they have yet to land a commitment in. Since Brown took over two years ago, UNC has been able to attract some big time recruits and stay in the races for some. They landed Desmond Evans and Tony Grimes, both five star recruits on some recruiting sites. But will Rice be the next?
