UNC football running back Javonte Williams trucks his way into Spotlight Of The Week honors in Tar Heels’ blowout victory over Duke.

North Carolina, now sitting at 5-2, will need to finish out the season with the same kind of explosive performance that it had against rival Duke. The Tar Heels annihilated Duke’s defense, finding the end zone time after time, but no one had their heels cross the goal line more than Javonte Williams. Williams scored four times while racking up 90 yards on seven carries in just the first half, leading to a 56-24 win.

Williams finished the game with 151 rushing yards, four total touchdowns, and new whispers of Heisman potential. Quarterback Sam Howell is even on board, stating that he was 100 percent behind that movement. Despite sharing the workload with dynamic running back Michael Carter, there’s no secret that Williams has not only been the best running back In the ACC, but the best out of the Power Five conference, leading the nation with 17 touchdowns.

As the season continues, it’s no secret that Williams will continue to be heavily involved in the Carolina offensive attack as they look to find a consistent overall play by the team. The biggest bright side of this UNC football team has been the running back duo, which has seen both weapons average over 100 yards per game, with Williams sitting at 109.6 and Carter at 104.7 per game.

The Tar Heels will take on 3-2 Wake Forest on Saturday at noon on the ACC Network. The last time Carolina played the Demon Deacons, they came away just short of victory, losing 24-18 on the road. They’ll play at home this time with eyes set on the ACC title game, and you can expect Williams to continue to truck his way into the Heisman conversation in a Tar Heel victory.
