We take a look at where the UNC Basketball program lands in the CBS Sports Top 25 and 1 rankings that were posted on Tuesday

We are about a month away until the return of UNC Basketball as Roy Williams and his team are out to prove that last season was a fluke.

The Tar Heels return to the court in November but there is still some uncertainty on if fans will be in the stands, how many games they will play and if they will start on time. But as we prepare for the season, outlets are starting to release and update their Top 25 lists.

The latest to do so was CBS Sports as they released their Top 25 and 1 list, featuring the 26 best teams for the upcoming season. The good news is that the Tar Heels did make the cut as one of the 26 teams but they weren’t ranked inside the Top 10.

Instead, the Tar Heels found themselves at No. 14 overall as the publication said this about the team:

"Caleb Love should be among the nation’s best freshmen, and he has a pair of five-star big men arriving with him. That should be enough to fill out a Tar Heel program that brings back Garrison Brooks and Armando Bacot in an effort to reverse last year’s rough season."

The Tar Heels do return Garrison Brooks, Armando Bacot and Leaky Black from last season’s team but their biggest additions come with the recruiting class. UNC’s incoming class features three five-star recruits and three four-star recruits, ranking No. 2 overall in the nation.

It’s headlined by guard Caleb Love who will get his chance to play right away as the Tar Heels’ do have a big need in the backcourt. Four-star guard R.J. Davis also should see significant playing time.

This is a talented UNC roster, no doubt, but there are still some question marks including what production they will get from the three spot, the minutes rotation and if they can rely on a freshman class to turn it around.

Next. This UNC Basketball target isn't close to committing yet. dark
