UNC Football player Chazz Surratt intercepts Spotlight of the Week honors in Tar Heels’ blow out victory over N.C State

The senior and leader of Carolina’s defense, Chazz Surratt, came up big and helped lead the UNC Football team to a 48-21 victory Saturday against rival N.C. State. As explosive as the offense was with 326 rushing yards, and 252 passing yards it was the defense who set the tone allowing only 34 rushing yards on just 19 attempts for an average of 1.8 yards.

This marks Carolina’s second straight blow out win over State with a combined 89 to 31 points scored in the last two meetings between the two.

Surratt, who played his final game against State, continued his dominance over them with 8 total tackles, one which included a sack for a loss of 14 yards, a forced fumble, and an interception.

Surratt was equally impressive in the game last season where he had 10 total tackles and a sack en route to a 41-10 victory. The most impressive and underrated stat is that Surratt in the last two games against State had zero missed tackles while creating havoc on the opposing offense.

This continued Surratt’s impressive senior season as Saturday’s game surely improved his draft stock once again with many looking at him as a 2nd round draft pick with the possibility of sneaking into the late first round.

So far on the season Surratt has 32 tackles, 4 sacks, a forced fumble, and a interception in just 5 games this season.
