This potential UNC Basketball recruiting target is set to release his Top 5 next week but do the Tar Heels have a shot at landing him?
As the UNC Basketball program continues to pursue recruits in the 2021 recruiting class a few new targets have emerged for Roy Williams and his staff.
Among the two new targets, one is a former Florida State recruit that just decommitted from the Seminoles and has officially re-opened his recruitment. The five-star shooting guard out of Greenville, South Carolina has moved quickly since decommitting a few weeks back and has even heard from UNC among other teams.
Now he’s ready to make an update.
According to Tipton Edits, McGowen is set to trim his new list of teams down to five on Monday:
McGowens’ recruitment is moving quickly since he decommitted and one has to wonder if the Tar Heels have a legit chance. They did reach out earlier in the week and this news could be good or bad.
Maybe McGowens had a great meeting with the Tar Heels and it was enough that he does include the program on his final list. Or the other option is that he already knows his list from earlier in his recruitment and wants to focus on other schools. It wouldn’t surprise us either way.
With two recruits committed in 2021, the Tar Heels are hoping to add at least another commit in the class. They have a few offers out including three to five-star recruits int he class but their options are shrinking.
McGowens is ranked No. 25 overall, No. 3 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per 247 Sports. He has a total of 24 offers in his recruitment but as of now, UNC has not offered him.
