Michael Carter runs the Tar Heels to victory after having a career day vs. Virginia Tech on Saturday

Michael Carter snags the spotlight as the Tar Heel’s offense exploded in a 56-45 victory over Virginia Tech. Carter just could not be stopped, rushing for 214 yards on 17 attempts with 2 touchdowns on Saturday afternoon.

Carter, one part of the 1, 2 punch dynamic duo with Javonte Williams, who also had an outstanding performance rushing for 169 yards on 20 attempts and 2 touchdowns, is a big piece of the Carolina puzzle. Carter and Williams on the season have a combined 696 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns in just 3 games of action.

The senior is drastically improving his draft stock while proving to be a leader on the field and inside the locker room. Carter not only ran all over the Virginia Tech defense, but did something no other running back this season has done, which was average 12 plus yards a carry with a minimum of 15 attempts.

Carolina, now ranked 5th in the country, is having one heck of a season with eyes set on proving they belong with the best of the ACC. Carolina, who sits at 3-0, will take on 1-3 Florida State University on October 17th in hopes for a 4-0 start for the first time in over a decade.

If UNC can keep up their strong play this season, they can make some noise not only in the ACC but in the national spotlight as well.
