Grayson Allen

Grayson Allen is, quite simply, the dirtiest, most ruthless college basketball player I’ve ever watched play the game. And those are his good traits.

The smug look that almost never left his face, and the seemingly clueless responses to foul calls were also fan favorites. So too was his propensity for hitting opponents in the back of the head or extending a leg to trip a player running at full speed.

The video below is a nice compilation of Allen’s most impressive work, highlighting his greatest trips, cheap shots, excessively hard fouls and adorable temper tantrums. Go ahead, see for yourself.

Allen is a talented basketball player, no doubt. But it wasn’t his skill on the court that drew the ire of North Carolina fans, and basically everyone else that watched even a moment of college basketball over the last couple years of his career at Duke. His actions were childish, and almost always uncalled for. Rarely was Allen not in the wrong when caught in the middle of a skirmish. Fans hated him, and they hated Mike Krzyzewski for continually defending him despite obvious evidence that he didn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Christian Laettner may be the most hated Blue Devil of all time, but he’s closely followed by Grayson Allen.
