One of the top players in the 2022 recruiting class has released his Top 12 schools and the UNC Football program made the cut

As the UNC Football program now has to wait another week before hitting the field for their second game of the season, the team received some good news in terms of the future of the program.

On Sunday afternoon, five-star offensive tackle Gunner Givens made the latest update to his recruitment. The No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2022 class has officially cut his list down to 12 schools.

North Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech all made the cut. That’s a loaded group of top programs.

The Virginia product is not only the top player at his position for the 2022 class but he’s one of the top players in the country. Per the 247 Sports composite rankings, Givens is ranked No. 21 overall , No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 2 in the state of Virginia.

Before cutting down his list to 12, Givens had 29 total offers from programs hoping to land the talented tackle.

Now with this update, the Tar Heels are going to have to pick up some momentum as Givens has some top programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Penn State, Ohio State and Oklahoma among others after him. His list consists of five SEC schools, four ACC schools, two Big Ten schools and one Big 12 school.

Givens has yet to take any official visits in his recruitment and with the NCAA dead period being extended, it doesn’t look like he will anytime soon.
