(3) Hunter Sallis, combo guard

As it stands right now in August, five-star combo guard Hunter Sallis is a recruit I feel good about but just not as good as two others.

The Nebraska native is the first known player in the state to land a scholarship offer to North Carolina and deservedly so. He’s not only one of the top players at his position but overall in the 2021 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound Sallis is ranked No. 1 in the state of Nebraska, No. 2 combo guard and No. 19 overall player in the 247 Sports Composite rankings.

Not only is Sallis good with the ball in his hands, he’s one of the better scorers in this class as well which is a big plus. The Tar Heels are seeking some help in the backcourt for that 2021 class as Caleb Love could be a one and done after the 2020-21 season. Sallis is a player that could step in and play alongside R.J. Davis who would enter that season as a sophomore. He could also make an instant impact in that backcourt for Roy Williams.

Sallis hasn’t taken an official visit to UNC just yet as the COVID-19 pandemic has banned travel for recruits and coaches. Getting Sallis on campus eventually could seal the deal for the Tar Heels as they are battling Kansas, Gonzaga, Nebraska and Louisville among others in his recruitment.
