(4) Jabari Smith, power forward

A few months ago it appeared as if the Tar Heels were the legit favorite to land five-star forward Jabari Smith. The talented forward out of Georgia is one of the top players in the 2021 class and would be a great wing to add to UNC’s roster.

But more recently it appears as if he’s heading to a program in the SEC.

The No. 5 overall recruit in the 247 Sports rankings, Smith has a total of 9 offers including one from UNC but has not really cut down a list. Even so, the latest buzz surrounding Smith is that Georgia, Auburn, and Tennessee are the teams that are likely in the lead for the prized recruit.

It’s still too early to count UNC out just yet but not being able to get Smith on campus for a visit have hurt their chances. Still, UNC will continue to pursue Smith as they hope to add him to their class but I wouldn’t get your hopes up just yet.

This would be a pleasant surprise if the Tar Heels were able to pull this one off.
