After an idle week, the North Carolina Tar Heels climbed one spot in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll

The UNC Football program didn’t get the chance to improve to 2-0 this past weekend as their scheduled game against Charlotte was cancelled on Saturday. But despite not playing,  the Tar Heels moved up in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

UNC moved up one spot from No. 12 to No. 11 on Sunday morning as the polls were updated by the voters. It was tough to move UNC up or down due to not having a game but we can’t complain with the raking. However, things will change quickly as the Big Ten announced their return to play last week and will begin the season in October.

This will certainly be a weird season in terms of the polls with the potential of the PAC-12 to begin play in late October or early November as well. But in a unique season, we really shouldn’t be surprised by anything.

Clemson remained at the top of the poll after opening 2-0 and are followed by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 Florida. Notre Dame checks in at No. 7 as the other ACC team ahead of UNC.

After beating Louisville on Saturday night, Miami moved up to No. 12 while Virginia Tech stayed put at No. 20 and Pitt climbed four spots to No. 21. Louisville fell to No. 24 after losing to the Hurricanes.

As for when we will see the Tar Heels back on the field again, well as of now it won’t be until early October. UNC’s bye week is scheduled for next weekend and they are trying to find a team to play in Chapel Hill. But as of now, they have not made an announcement on that.
