The UNC Women’s Basketball program has an excellent 2021 recruiting class with four players ranked in the Top 20.

While the focus is on the men’s UNC Basketball program for their 2020 recruiting class, women’s head coach Courtney Banghart has quietly put together an impressive recruiting class for the 2021 cycle.

As it stands now, the UNC Women’s Basketball program has one of the best recruiting classes for the 2021 cycle as they look to rebuild the program. Coming off a 14-16 season a year ago, the future is bright for the Tar Heels as they turned in a solid 2020 class.

But their 2021 class is the one making the headlines.

Banghart’s 2021 recruiting class currently has four players in the Top 20 of the latest ESPN rankings for women’s recruiting. Check out the committed recruits for UNC in that Top 20:

  • 5-star forward Teonni Key  (Cary High School in North Carolina)
  • 4-star guard Kayla McPherson (Madison City High School in Georgia)
  • 4-star guard Morasha Wiggins (Kalamazoo Central High School in Michigan)
  • 4-star forward Destiny Adams (Manchester Township High School in New Jersey)

Each of those recruits are graded as four-star players or higher and in some cases they are 4.5 star players according to the rankings.

The job that Banghart and her staff have done to land this class has been fantastic. It’s a critical time for the program as they are in a rebuild mode but right now, the future looks bright for the program to get back to where it needs to be.
