5-star UNC basketball target Skyy Clark has offers from schools all over the country, but the one from Kentucky may be too hard to pass up.

It seemed like good news for the Tar Heels last week when Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans switched his FutureCast prediction for Skyy Clark from Kentucky to North Carolina. But on Tuesday, Director of Basketball Scouting for 247Sports, Jerry Meyer, shot down the notion that the Tar Heels are anywhere close to leading the Clark recruitment.

"“Pretty much every school in the country is after Skyy Clark, who is a five-star combo guard attending Brentwood (TN) Academy,” Meyer said. “North Carolina is in the mix, believe he has a final eight at the moment, after offering Clark at the end of June. The problem for North Carolina and everyone else pursuing him is that Kentucky is considered the favorite at the moment. In regards to the Crystal Ball, Clark has four predictions with high confidence for Kentucky. Unless something significantly shifts, I expect Clark to be a Wildcat.”"

Clark’s Crystal Ball does indeed have four predictions for Kentucky with high confidence. That part is true. Meyer does, however, miss on the number of teams on Clark’s list of finalists. That number is 10 with the addition of DePaul and Kansas, a pair of programs that landed on his list some three weeks after the announcement of his original group of finalists.

Does Meyer neglecting that suggest that he isn’t as “in the know” regarding Clark’s recruitment as Evans is? Or are DePaul and Kansas so insignificant to Clark’s recruitment at this point that his slip-up shouldn’t be taken too seriously. I tend to lean toward the latter.

Clark plans to announce his final three teams on Thursday night, and it’s expected that both Kentucky and North Carolina will make the cut. The third team is likely just playing for a bronze medal at this point. It’s the Wildcats and Tar Heels that have been getting all the buzz around Clark’s recruitment lately, and those are the only two programs that I believe have a shot at his commitment.

Where he’ll commit to I cannot say, but the final leg of Clark’s recruitment sure is getting exciting.
