5-star prospect, UNC basketball target Skyy Clark adds two schools to list of finalists

It was less than a month ago when Skyy Clark named North Carolina among a group of eight finalists that included Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee State, UCLA and USC. On Monday night, however, Clark added DePaul and Kansas to his list, which has now rounded out to 10 schools.

Whether or not either program will have an impact on his recruitment is unknown, especially considering the fact that there’s a consensus among college basketball insiders and recruiting analysts that Clark will ultimately choose Kentucky. It is worth noting, though, that DePaul has officially made Clark’s final list after he decommitted from the school following a pledge that he made to the Blue Demons in eighth grade.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Clark is a junior at Brentwood Academy, where he transferred to from California’s Heritage Christian after the 2019-20 season. He averaged 25.5 points and 4.2 assists as a sophomore, and spent time playing AAU ball with LeBron James’ son, Bronny.

Clark is a good ball handler that can push the ball up the court, and lead his team on the fast break. He’s a terrific shooter that has consistent range beyond the three-point line, and can set up his teammates for easy scores. He’s good at penetrating the lane, and isn’t afraid to finish in traffic through contact. His basketball I.Q. matches his athletic ability, which is considerable. Along with having tremendous court vision, Clark has the size and tenacity to be an above-average defender, too. By the time he gets to campus in the fall of 2022, he should be one of the class’s most versatile players.

Clark is currently ranked 15th in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite for 2022. He’s third among combo guards in the class, and the No. 2 prospect from the state of Tennessee.
