UNC Football: Keeshawn Silver to enroll early at North Carolina
5-star UNC commit Keeshawn Silver will forgo his senior season at Rocky Mount High School, and enroll early at North Carolina.
Keeshawn Silver was a 4-star prospect when he committed to the University of North Carolina in early March, but he’s since added another star, and now ranks among the top 25 players in the class of 2021. A few months later, Silver announced that he’d be walking on for the North Carolina basketball team, adding his 6-foot-5, 275-pound body to an already loaded UNC front court.
Then came Silver’s announcement on Monday night that he’d be forgoing his senior season at Rocky Mount High School, and enrolling early at North Carolina. Silver sent out a tweet announcing his decision, and thanking his high school coaches and teammates for helping him achieve everything he has over the past few years.

Silver is joining a UNC defense that continues to get stronger under second-year head coach Mack Brown. Look for him to make his presence felt on Jay Bateman’s defensive unit, and be a focal point of the Tar Heels’ defense moving forward. He’ll also likely get some run with Roy Williams’ squad on the hardwood. He’s not a bad basketball player, and he’s got Julius Peppers-like size that could be beneficial in the UNC front court.
Silver is ranked 25th overall in the class of 2021 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s fourth among players at his position, and No. 2 in the state of North Carolina.
