Former UNC Basketball star Vince Carter has found a new gig after retiring from the NBA this Summer and he’s staying around the game.

Many wondered what the next step would be for former UNC Basketball standout Vince Carter after he announced his retirement from the NBA. Well, now we finally have an answer.

Just a few months after Carter announced he was retiring after 22 seasons in the NBA, ending his career with the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks didn’t make the NBA’s restart in the bubble, ending their season and Carter’s career.

Now after the 22 seasons on the court, Carter is staying close to the game but will do so as a new studio analyst for ESPN.

Per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Carter is joining ESPN as an analyst as he was the top free-agent broadcaster on the market in terms of basketball.

"Carter retired after 22 seasons in the NBA. He played with the Hawks this season.Carter has a very outgoing personality and smile fit for TV. How he is utilized will probably determine how good he will be as he doesn’t plan to cause waves with his commentary, but could prove to be informative."

This isn’t going to be the first time Carter has dabbled in broadcasting, either.

He has done TV and radio in the past for both ESPN and Turner as well as doing the Jr. NBA Global Championships for Fox Sports. Carter recently hinted at what style of broadcaster he would be, talking to the Post and revealed that he wouldn’t be the “Stephen A. Smith” route and wants to tell the game on the court how it is for his audience.

With Carter’s experience in the league and around the game of basketball, we don’t see any problems with the transition he will make. In fact, we think it’s going to be a perfect fit for him in life after the game of basketball and can’t wait to hear his first game!
