UNC Football: Class of 2021 recruit now ranked as a five-star
By Zack Pearson
A 2020 UNC Football recruit has moved up in the updated rankings and has officially earned his fifth star in the cycle
In his first two years back as head coach of the UNC Football program, Mack Brown is making a big impact with the program not only on the field but off the field.
Brown turned in a Top 20 recruiting class for the 2020 cycle and is off to another really good start for the 2021 class. The Tar Heels landed their first five-star recruit when Tony Grimes committed earlier this Summer. But with Grimes reclassifying to 2020, the Tar Heels’ class ranking dropped a bit.
However, there was some good news this week.
Defensive end Keeshawn Silver was one of the recruits that saw an increase in his ranking in the Rivals250 updated rankings. Silver jumped into the Rivals250 rankings and earned a grade of 5.9 by the recruiting cycle. The jump into the rankings also moved Silver up int he 247 Sports Composite rankings and officially making him a five-star recruit.
Silver is UNC’s lone five-star recruit in the 2021 class and is ranked No. 25 overall, No. 4 defensive end and No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247 Sports Composite rankings. As you can see above, a few other UNC players moved up in the rankings.
Four-star quarterback Drake Maye is on the edge of a five-star ranking but with not many camps and COVID-19, it could hurt his chances. Another candidate is four-star outside linebacker RaRa Dillworth.
The future continues to be bright for the UNC Football program.
