Former UNC Baseball standout Daniel Bard gets his first save in 9 years as his comeback tour continues

The Pressure was on in Colorado Tuesday night after Phillip Diehl, and Jairo Diaz gave up a combined five runs in the top of the 9th inning leaving runners on first and third with the score 8-7 in the Rockies favor.

Needing just one more out to seal the victory the Colorado Rockies called on Daniel Bard who comeback story gets better and better after the former Tar Heel got another shot to prove he belongs on the mound.

Bard would face off against hitter Stephen Vogt who already had 1HR, and 5RBI on the short season needing just  base hit to send the runner on 3rd base home to tie the ball game.

The chess match was set and very simple for Bard and that was one out and the team is celebrating their MLB best currently 12th victory. After a count of 2-2 Bard delivered a beautiful backdoor slider for the 3rd strike and a Rockies win earning Bard his first save in 9 years the last one being June 5th of 2011 when he was with the Boston Red Sox.

Bard on the season is 1-0 with 1 save, 12 strike outs, 3.0 ERA in 9 innings pitched. Last year Bard was a part of the coaching staff for the Arizona Diamondbacks, last night he was their final strike out. Bard comeback story is one for the ages and will continue to be one as he looks to becomes a prominent member of the Rockies bullpen and reestablishes his name in MLB.
