The UNC Football program has added their non-conference opponent for the 2020 college football season as they will play Charlotte in Week 2

Despite Power 5 conferences releasing their plans for the 2020 college football season which most include as conference only games, there is still some uncertainty as to if the season will actually go on. But earlier in the week, the UNC Football program has finished up their schedule by adding one more opponent.

The Atlantic Coast Conference schedule calls for teams to play an 11-game schedule with 10 of those games being conference opponents. UNC has added a few teams that they weren’t supposed to play this season, including Notre Dame which sets them up for a run at the conference championship game.

While the Tar Heels were set to open up on September 12h at home vs Syracuse, their Week 2 opponent was still to be determined. That changed as the Tar Heels have officially added a home game against non-conference opponent Charlotte:

Charlotte will be the one lone non-conference game for UNC in a year where they were supposed to open at UCF and then in Week 2 play Auburn at a neutral site. The Tar Heels were setup to potentially make some national noise early on with those two big games. Their game against UCONN later on in the year was also canceled.

This will certainly be a unique situation for all of college football over the next few weeks, especially with the MAC being the first conference to cancel football this Fall. Things could get interesting over the next few days.
