3. 2015-16 (33-7)

The 2015-16 campaign was the senior season for two Carolina basketball legends. It was the final journey for Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson, and they played like it. This team played hard, and battled all season long.

They defeated five ranked teams in the regular season, including wins over No. 2 Maryland, No. 4 Virginia, No. 11 Miami, and No. 17 Duke.

This team was loaded with talent, and the players knew it. You could see the confidence every time they stepped on the court, and they played every game like it was their last. They were the ACC regular season champions, and won the ACC Tournament. They showcased their dominance all year long.

They entered the NCAA Tournament as a 1-seed, and made it all the way to the NCAA Championship where we all know what happened at the buzzer. The Marcus Paige double-pump three-pointer to tie the game will always have a place in Tar Heel history, even though they lost to a Kris Jenkins buzzer beater just 4.7 seconds later.

This group will never be forgotten, and their experience earned throughout this season played a major role in what the team was able to accomplish in the next season.
