KANSAS CITY, MO – MARCH 24: P.J. 8. 2012-13 (25-11)

Another insanely talented Carolina team led by P.J. Hairston and James Michael McAdoo, who averaged 29 points as a tandem. This UNC team struggled to win big games in the regular season, going 1-5 against ranked teams, but had shined during their run to the ACC Tournament championship game.

The Tar Heels were a  3-seed entering the ACC Tourney, and made it all the way to the championship before falling short to Miami. Postseason play is what defines UNC teams, and this ACC run helps this team’s case.

Their play in the NCAA tournament didn’t match the same success. They defeated Villanova in the first round, but fell short against a Ben McLemore-led Kansas team.

P.J. Hairston was the leading scorer on this team at 14.6 points per game, while Reggie Bullock was the player who was the most well-rounded, averaging 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals.
