8. N.C. State (Home)

Following Boston College, we have N.C. State, a mini rival led by head coach Dave Doeren

Last season N.C. State got hit with the injury bug and the record showed that as they went 1-7 in conference play with a 4-8 overall record, ending the season on a six-game losing streak. The game between the Heels and the Wolfpack was not close at all as Carolina dominated, winning 41 -10, showing true skill on both offense and defense.

It was a damn good win for the Tar Heels and left their fans celebrating.

Despite the blow out last season, you can expect this one to be much closer with N.C. State getting healthier and possibly playing for Doeren head coaching job who holds a 47-42 overall record, but 21-35 in conference since becoming the head coach in 2013.

This could serve as a trap game for Carolina as State quarterback Devin Leary is expected to be the starter after a solid 8 games where he threw for 1,219 yards, 8 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 104.7 as a redshirt freshman. This could end up as an old-fashioned “shoot out”, but expect the Heels to come out on top.
