A top UNC Basketball recruiting target will cut his list down from just 10 schools to 6 finalists next week. What should we expect?

With a recruiting dead period imposed by the NCAA that bans coaches, staff and players from traveling until at least the end of August, things have been quieter than normal for programs across the country. That includes the UNC Basketball program which is hoping to reel in a few more recruits for their 2021 class.

The Tar Heels currently have one player committed to the 2021 recruiting class with four-star power forward Dontrez Styles making his decision back in April. But since then there’ hasn’t been much on potential targets.

One of the targets UNC has high on their board is five-star small forward Harrison Ingram.

The Dallas, Texas native is ranked No. 15 overall, No. 5 at his position and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas by 247 Sports. He has a total of 26 offers so far in his recruitment and trimmed it down to 10 a few months back.

On Sunday, Ingram announced via Twitter that he’s set to cut his list down from those 10 schools to just 6 finalists on August 1st:

North Carolina, Texas A&M, Baylor, Louisville, Michigan, Tennessee, Arkansas, Memphis, Purdue and Stanford made his top 10 back in May.

Since then UNC’s rival, Duke, has also been rumored to enter the race. The Blue Devils have yet to offer Ingram but they are considered a ‘dream school’ for the recruit and many believe an offer would seal the deal despite Stanford and Purdue being the favorites.

UNC isn’t too far behind in the race for Ingram and still have a legit chance as it stands now. It would be shocking not to see UNC on that list come August 1st but the key in the recruitment could be to get him on campus at some point.

Next. Will this UNC target end up in the SEC?. dark
