A UNC Basketball recruiting target got emotional after receiving his official offer from the program last week. What does that mean for the Tar Heels’ chances?

Sometimes you see a player receive an offer from the UNC Basketball program or another Blue Blood in college basketball and it becomes emotional for them.

For a lot of these recruits, they have dream schools that they are just waiting on to land an offer from. And when that day comes, it becomes a very special day.

That was the case for class of 2022 five-star combo guard Skyy Clark.

He received his latest offer last week and it came from Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels, giving him 24 total offers in his recruitment so far. But as Clark described, this one got him a little emotional.

Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans spoke with Clark about his recruitment last week, breaking down the latest and even that UNC offer. That’s when Clark revealed exactly what happened when he did get an offer from the Tar Heels:

"That is a huge thing. Coach Roy is a legend. I was actually making a TikTok and he called me and I was about to let it ring but then I saw who it was and I picked it up and we talked for about 30-minutes and he ended up giving me a scholarship.CE: What did that feel like getting that offer?SC: It was huge. I started crying."

Those are some powerful words from a high-profile recruit like Clark.

Now, that doesn’t mean the Tar Heels are in the driver’s seat just yet for the talented combo guard but that is some good news. UNC’s offer certainly has made an impact in Clark’s recruitment but as of now, they don’t appear to be the heavy favorite. That title belongs to Kentucky as the Wildcats hold all three predictions on 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball including two with a confidence measure of 8.

Clark is ranked as the No. 18 overall player, No. 1 combo guard and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee per 247 Sports.

While the Tar Heels may not be in the lead as of now, don’t count them out just yet.
