Top Targets

With those seven scholarships out and the latest news, we wanted to do our best to figure out who the top targets are for the Tar Heels in this recruiting class.

We will rank them from high to low based on the chances of UNC landing the recruit or being on the outside looking in for the recruit. This is not based on skill-set or ranking but simply UNC’s best chance to land them.

Best chance

D’Marco Dunn

The former Arizona native moved to North Carolina and has seen his stock in the recruiting rankings rise since then. An offer from the Tar Heels ramped up his recruitment and we could see this coming down to UNC vs. Arizona for his commitment.

Hunter Sallis

The Midwest product is a five-star combo guard that became the first recruit from Nebraska to land an offer from UNC. Sallis is one of the most talented guards in the country and right now, we have to think UNC is a legit contender for him. Can Williams pluck him out of the Midwest? If it’s anyone, it would be the Tar Heels.

Still a chance….

Trevor Keels

In my update a few months back, I mocked Keels to the Tar Heels for the 2021 class. But since then, things have changed. The Tar Heels haven’t been able to get Keels on campus and it may have hurt their chances. As of now, UNC has a chance but they are trending the wrong way.

Kennedy Chandler

Once thought as the prized recruit for the Tar Heels in the 2021 class, the Tar Heels might be fading out in the race for Chandler. He’s reportedly going to commit this Fall but rumors of a package deal with Paolo Banchero which would take the Tar Heels out of it.

Chet Holmgren

The center is one of the top recruits in the country and recently trimmed his list down to 7 including the Tar Heels. But where does UNC stand? They reportedly trail three teams in the race plus the option of going pro still looms large for Holmgren.

Probably should forget about them..

Patrick Baldwin Jr.

While UNC was one of the first teams involved in his recruitment, things aren’t looking good right now for their chances. Baldwin Jr. seems destined to land at Duke with both Milwaukee and Northwestern having at least a small chance.

Harrison Ingram

Another target that was once high on UNC’s board but has fallen of late is Harrison Ingram out of Texas. Although the Tar Heels still remain on his list, I don’t see him ending up in Chapel Hill.
