UNC Football: Tar Heels extend scholarship offer to latest 2022 target
The UNC football program has extended another offer to a class of 2022 prospect, junior linebacker Albert Redd.
Mack Brown and the North Carolina football program have extended their latest scholarship offer to a class of 2022 prospect, outside linebacker Albert Redd. The defensive standout announced the scholarship offer — the first of his recruitment — via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Redd joins a group of nearly 50 high school juniors that have received a UNC offer to this point. Salisbury’s Jalon Walker and Daterius Lee of Deerfield Beach complete the trio of outside linebackers to currently hold an offer from Mack Brown and the Tar Heels.
A 6-foot-3, 210-pound standout at Glenn High School in Kernersville, North Carolina, Redd recorded 112 tackles, five quarterback hurries, five blocked punts, two sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception last season. His prowess on the defensive side of the football helped Glenn to a 9-5 record in 2019, and a third-place conference finish.
Two of Redd’s teammates — Raneiria “RaRa” Dillworth and Jahvaree Ritzie — have already committed to North Carolina’s 2021 recruiting class. Another Glenn football player, Jahaad Scales, pledged to Old Dominion last weekend.
Redd has received early interest from conference rival NC State, as well as Big 12 foe West Virginia, though neither have extended a scholarship offer to this point. And although he and his 2022 classmates are unranked by the 247Sports Composite at this time, expect Redd to be a highly sought-after recruit by this time next year.
