Top UNC football target is set to announce college decision in late July as he revealed on Friday night

4-star defensive tackle Payton Page announced via Twitter on Friday night that he will be making his decision on July 28th. The talented class of 2021 prospect will be deciding between Clemson, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Page is a rising senior at Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ranked 81st in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite, Page is the No. 7 recruit at his position, and fourth in the state of North Carolina. Rivals ranks Page even higher at No. 30 in the nation, second among defensive tackles and first in his home state.

He had nearly three-dozen scholarship offers when he named his list of five finalists in mid-January. Along with the Tar Heels, Page included Clemson, LSU, Oregon and Tennessee as the schools he’d be moving forward with. Fast forward a few months, and Page decided to eliminate another pair of potential suitors. It’s been just two months since that, and Page is apparently ready to officially end his recruitment.

The fact that Page is an in-state prospect bodes well for Brown and the Tar Heels, given that UNC has already gotten commitments from 14 of the state’s top 36 prospects. It appears likely, however, that Page will be putting on an orange hat when he announces his commitment this evening. His Crystal Ball is 100 percent in favor of the Tigers, including a pick from the site’s top predictor, Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong. Clemson is also a consensus pick among experts at Rivals, including National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell.
