UNC Basketball: Tar Heels extend offer to 5-star combo guard
Roy Williams, UNC basketball program extend offer to talented combo guard in class of 2022
Despite having just one commitment from a 2021 prospect to this point, the North Carolina Tar Heels are spending a fair amount of time and effort on the class of 2022. UNC head coach Roy Williams extended his third scholarship offer to a 2022 recruit on Tuesday night, 5-star combo guard Skyy Clark.

Clark told Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten that he got the call from Williams on Tuesday night, adding to a list of offers that includes Arizona, Auburn, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida State, Indiana, Memphis, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas Tech and UCLA. Clark got calls from a number of those programs and many others on June 15, the first day that college coaches were permitted to contact 2022 prospects. Duke and Villanova are among the programs that have been in contact with Clark, but are yet to extend an offer.
The 6-foot-2, 197-pound Clark is a junior at Brentwood Academy, where he transferred to from California’s Heritage Christian after the 2019-20 season. He averaged 25.5 points and 4.2 assists as a sophomore, and spent time playing AAU ball with LeBron James’ son, Bronny. He’s currently ranked 18th in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s first among combo guards in the 2022 class, and the No. 2 prospect from the state of Tennessee.
Clark is a good ball handler that can push the ball up the court, and lead his team on the fast break. Not only is a terrific shooter that has consistent range beyond the three-point line, but he’s also good at setting up his teammates for easy scores. He’s good at penetrating the lane, and isn’t afraid to finish through contact in traffic. His basketball I.Q. matches his athletic ability, and his court vision is tremendous. He’s got the size and tenacity to be a very good defender, too, and should be one of the class’s most versatile players by the time he steps foot on campus a couple of years from now.
Don’t look for Clark to make a college decision any time soon, though, as he will likely await offers from all of college basketball’s biggest names before eliminating schools and making campus visits. Whether or not there is a current leader in his recruitment at this time is largely unknown, though he does have a couple of Crystal Ball predictions in favor of Kentucky. With two seasons of high schools hoops left, however, anything could happen.
Stick with Keeping It Heel for all of the latest on the Skyy Clark recruitment, and everything UNC basketball.
