Former UNC Basketball standout Tyler Zeller has a new home in the NBA as the league is hoping to restart in July down in Orlando

As we are on the brink of the potential return for sports, July could be a big month for all four professional leagues.

The NBA has a plan in place for players to report to Orlando in early July before resuming play later on in the month. The “bubble” plan is set to include 22 teams participating with the regular season taking place in 16 days at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. From there, the league will establish its 16 teams for the playoffs and begin play depending on the results of the regular season and when it ends.

While not all of the teams will be in Orlando to participate, one former North Carolina  standout received some good news on Wednesday.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, free-agent center Tyler Zeller will sign with the San Antonio Spurs for the rest of the season.

Zeller was in training camp with the Denver Nuggets in 2019 but did not make an NBA roster this season. With some depth needs in the post, including a season-ending injury to LaMarcus Aldridge, the Spurs made sure to at least attempt to address that need with Zeller.

The former North Carolina standout has averaged seven points and 4.4 rebounds per game in his six-year NBA career.

The Brooklyn Nets have waived guard Theo Pinson. dark. Next
