UNC Football: What bowl game 247 Sports predicts Tar Heels to land in
By Zack Pearson
Where will the UNC Football program land in terms of bowl games this year? 247 Sports made their updated prediction
The countdown to the 2020 college football season is on as programs across the country have begun to return to campuses. For North Carolina, they have begun the first phase of bringing players and staff back to campus and hope to have the entire program there by early July.
After the 7-6 finish and first bowl win since 2013, expectations are high for the Tar Heels going into the new season.
Several outlets have the Tar Heels in their preseason Top 25 for the upcoming season, as they earning some national respect. Some outlets even have them in some big bowl games, including the Orange Bowl as part of the New Year’s Day Six.
While it’s still early and there is still some uncertainty for the season, it’s never a bad thing to take a look at some more predictions.
The latest comes from 247 Sports who put out their updated “Way too early” bowl projections for the upcoming season. The site thinks highly of the Tar Heels and has them taking on Nebraska out of the Big Ten at Yankee Stadium in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Here is what 247 Sports said about the Tar Heels in the bowl projections:
"The word: North Carolina potentially squaring off with Scott Frost and Nebraska is the most intriguing battle thus far in this set of College Football News projections pitting two dynamic quarterbacks against one another. Most believe the Tar Heels are going to win the ACC Coastal however, which should kick North Carolina up a slot or two in the ACC’s bowl pecking order."
If UNC does win the Coastal Division and lands some big wins early in the year over UCF and Auburn, they could find themselves hovering around the Top 10 early on in the season. Then depending on what happens in the ACC, a big bowl game could be on the horizon.
Either way, things appear to be on the way up for the Tar Heels football program and big things are ahead.
