The UNC Football team appears to be trending big time for this five-star defensive back, picking up some big predictions on Monday

The North Carolina Tar Heels’ football program received some positive news when a big five-star target decided to move up his commitment date to next week.

Defensive back Tony Grimes, one of the top prospects in the country, was initially set to announce his decision in December. But on Sunday, he made the announcement that he was bumping it up to June 30th which is a good sign for UNC’s chances.

Since then, the Tar Heels have received some good news in terms of predictions.

The Tar Heels currently hold 93 percent of the Crystal Ball predictions for Grimes on 247 Sports, landing a few more since the announcement. That includes some big predictions…

247 Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong has made his pick for the Tar Heels, as has Georgia expert Kipp Adams, giving the Tar Heels 8 of the 9 predictions. Both Wiltfong and Adams have a confidence of 7 on the pick, some really good news.

In addition to that, the Tar Heels also picked up a big prediction from a top expert over at Rivals.

Mike Farrell has now made his prediction for Grimes, posting on Twitter that he thinks UNC wins this recruitment:

Landing Grimes would be HUGE for UNC’s program, giving them not only their first five-star in the class but a top 10 player as well. The Tar Heels class currently ranks No. 4 overall on 247 Sports and landing Grimes would bump them up a bit.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Virginia native and No. 7 player in the class will make his announcement next Tuesday, with UNC, Georgia and Ohio State as his finalists.
