Some UNC Football recruits led by Drake Maye won a 7-on-7 tournament in South Carolina over the weekend

As North Carolina football players slowly make their way back to campus this Summer, class of 2021 recruits are doing their own form of workouts.

Over the weekend, a few UNC football commits participated in the Blazing 7 on 7 tournament in Rock Hill, South Carolina and took home the title. The team, Carolina Stars, was led by four-star quarterback Drake Maye who originally committed to North Carolina before flipping to the Tar Heels.

Maye was joined by fellow UNC commits Dontavius Nash, Gavin Blackwell, and Ra Ra Dillworth among others for the weekend-long event. The team was impressive throughout the tournament but it was Maye that caught everyone’s attention.

The UNC commit lit it up in the event as you can see in some Day 1 highlights:

Maye is already among the best quarterbacks in the 2021 class ranking in the Top 50 overall by recruiting outlets. But he has the potential to get even better and climb more.

He’s entering his senior year at Myers Park High School before arriving on UNC’s campus next year. A big year for Maye could mean his ranking shoots up and he eventually gets that five-star ranking next to his name.

It’s also good to see UNC recruits out on the field getting some offseason workouts in ahead of their final year of high school ball.

Next. Are the Tar Heels trending for this five-star recruit?. dark
