A look at where some of the UNC Football recruits rank in the updated recruiting rankings published by 247 Sports and Rivals.

As we sit here in the month of June patiently awaiting any positive news about the 2020 college football season, there was some big recruiting news that happened this week.

Both 247 Sports and Rivals released updated rankings for the 2021 recruiting classes, providing their latest updates for the class. And with those updates, a few Tar Heels’ saw a ratings increase and it pushed UNC’s class back up to No. 4 in the 247 Sports Composite rankings.

Keeshawn Silver, Caleb Hood, RaRa Dillworth and Power Echols all saw increases in their ranking, moving them up in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. The list complies rankings from all major recruiting services and takes the average, forming the final rankings.

Dillworth was the biggest mover of the bunch, jumping 40 spots from No. 162 to No. 122. The four-star recruit also climbed in the Rivals’ rankings and has a grade of 5.9. He could get that fifth star on Rivals this season as the linebacker is one of the big players trending upwards in the class.

Following Dillworth’s bump is the defensive end Silver who climbed 35 spots from No. 97 overall to No. 62 in the composite rankings. He’s ranked No. 30 overall by the 247 Sports regular rankings and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina.

Echols climbed 34 spots from No. 196 in the nation to No. 162 and saw a small bump on Rivals, grading out at 5.8. Hood earned his fourth-star by 247 Sports in the week, bumping him up in the rankings to No. 630 overall.

UNC’s highest-rated commit continues to be quarterback Drake Maye. He’s No. 48 overall in the composite rankings, a four-star recruit by both 247 and Rivals. However, Rivals has him No. 126 overall in their Top 250.

The Tar Heels’ biggest target remaining on their recruiting board continues to be five-star defensive back Tony Grimes. He’s ranked No. 7 on 247 Sports composite and No. 13 on Rivals’ updated list. He would be a HUGE get for the Tar Heels and give them their first five-star commitment.
