A UNC Football recruit earned his fourth star in the 2021 recruiting class as 247 Sports made an update to their rankings on Wednesday

Mack Brown and his staff at North Carolina are off to a great start for the their 2021 recruiting class, landing a total of 16 commitments so far. After turning in a top 20 class for 2020 and coming off their best season in three years, the excitement is at high for the program.

Adding in this 2021 recruiting class makes the excitement that much better.

While North Carolina doesn’t have a five-star player committed just yet, they do have a handful of four-star recruits. And on Wednesday, they added another one to the list.

Recruiting site 247 Sports released their updated rankings for the 2021 class on Wednesday and on UNC commit received a bump. Athlete Caleb Hood earned his fourth star from 247 Sports, making him the 12th commit in the class for the Tar Heels to reach that fourth star.

Director of recruiting for 247 Sports, Steve Wiltfong, had this to say about Hood via Inside Carolina:

"“And this is a guy that, when we had time to talk more about each and every one of these guys and when we got to Caleb Hood, you’re just like, ‘How do you not have him as a four-star?’ And, I think he could continue to go up. I think the arrow is up on him.”"

Hood didn’t receive a big bump in the 247 Sports Composite rankings which takes into account all of the recruiting sites but it’s nice to see at least one outlet giving him a bump up.

The 6-foot, 220-pound Hood plays at Richmond High School out of Rockingham, North Carolina and is a Top 25 player in the state. He pledged his verbal commitment to North Carolina  back in January of 2020, picking them over offers from Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Duke, and N.C. State among others.
