UNC Basketball: Tar Heels reach out to 4-star small forward in 2022 class
By Zack Pearson
Roy Williams and the UNC Basketball program are showing interest in this four-star small forward in the 2022 recruiting class
We are currently in a recruiting dead period for college sports as the NCAA imposed the ban in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While it’s been a unique past few months and that should continue into the Summer as there will be no live evaluation period for basketball, maybe hurting the UNC Basketball program just a bit.
That certainly throws a wrench into things as coaches won’t have the chance to go out and scout players.
However, on Monday coaches were granted the chance to contact recruits in the 2022 recruiting class and are allowed unlimited phone calls and texts. It’s a way to make up for the no live evaluation period and coaches didn’t waste any time. That included Roy Williams and his staff at North Carolina.
Among the prospects that the Tar Heels contacted was four-star small forward Gradey Dick per Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers:
The 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward out of Wichita, Kansas saw more than just one team contact him when the period opened. He landed a scholarship from Texas A&M and heard from Alabama, Texas, Norte Dame and North Carolina among others.
Dick is ranked No. 34 overall, No. 9 at his position and the No. 2 player in the state of Kansas per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 12 offers in his recruitment so far but hasn’t landed one from UNC just yet. The Tar Heels have just one offer out in the 2022 class with Jaden Bradley holding that offer but more will come sooner than later and Dick could be a player that gets one.
