The UNC Basketball program checked in on a five-star guard in the 2022 recruiting class out of Tennessee. How much interest is there and where do the Tar Heels stand?

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced come changes in college recruiting since March, with the NCAA imposting a dead period. While teams can still recruit, they have had to do so without taking any visits and instead, use Zoom to meet with recruits.

This hasn’t stopped Roy Williams and his staff from focusing on future recruiting classes.

The Tar Heels have held a few Zoom meetings over the past few months and as the calendar flips to June in the recruiting cycle, they have been very active. On Monday, StockRisers’ reporter Jake Weingarten reported that the Tar Heels latest contact is a five star combo guard in the 2022 class, as UNC has been in touch with Skyy Clark:

The Tennessee native is ranked No. 18 overall, No. 1 at his position and No. 2 in the state of Tennessee in the 2022 rankings per 247 Sports. UNC wasn’t the only program to contact him either recently.

As Weingarten points out, Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon, Ohio State, Minnesota, DePaul, BYU, Penn, Oregon, Stanford and Arkansas are amongst the programs to reach out. Duke will also be on a call as well.

Clark has a total of 18 offers so far in his recruitment but hasn’t taken any official visits due to the dead period of no travel. Once that’s lifted, that will change as programs will be hot on the recruiting trail to land the talented guard. With interest being shown by UNC, he may be next in line to land an offer from the Tar Heels as they have one known offer out in 2022. Either way, his recruitment is now something to monitor.

Are the Tar Heels prioritizing this recruit in 2021?. dark. Next
