The UNC Football program landed a big four-star defensive end in the 2021 recruiting class on Friday night as they continue to build an impressive class

Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels have once again added to their 2021 recruiting class.

After going a few weeks without a commitment in their 2021 class, things changed in a good way for the Tar Heels. On Friday night, four-star defensive end Jahvaree Ritzie pledged his verbal commitment to the Tar Heels via Instagram live.

The Kernersville, North Carolina native, who plays at Glenn High School, held a special celebration with his family and broadcasted it live on Instagram live before revealing his decision. Ritzie had a black Georgia shirt on teasing the crowd before taking it off and revealing a UNC shirt, making his decision:

The defensive end picked UNC over Georgia, South Carolina , Ohio State and Tennessee in his recruitment.

Ritzie becomes the 16th player to commit to North Carolina’s 2021 recruiting class which is ranked No. 5 overall and No. 2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. UNC has climbed as high as No. 3 in the rankings but now trails only Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee and USC here in June.

With the commitment of Ritzie, Brown and his staff have added another in-state prospect to their class. Ritzie becomes the 14th player from the state of North Carolina to commit to the Tar Heels in 2021 with six of those players being ranked in the Top 10 for the state.

The defensive end is ranked No. 142 overall, No. 12 at his position and No. 7 in the state per the 247 Sports rankings.  He’s another big time get for Brown and the Tar Heels’ defense, with Tim Cross and Phil Longo leading the recruitment for the program.

UNC isn’t done adding to their 2021 class, either. They are in the mix for more top recruits and really could end up with a Top 10 class when it’s all said and done.
