UNC Baseball standout Aaron Sabato will likely be a first-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft come Wednesday night. But where will he go?

North Carolina slugger Aaron Sabato will hear his name called on Wednesday night during the 2020 MLB Draft and he will hear it called early.

Sabato is one of the best power hitters in college baseball and is expected to go in the first round on Wednesday night. But just how high will he go?

Leading up into tonight’s four-round draft, Sabato is being mocked in the first round in a few places anywhere from middle to late. Baseball America released their updated mock earlier in the week and it’s the highest we have seen Sabato go.

The publication mocked Sabato in the American League going No. 14 overall to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night:

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Sabato is a raw prospect that can absolutely rake the baseball and showed that in his first year at North Carolina. Sabato hit a UNC freshman record 18 home runs in his first season and posted an OPS of 1.149. His sophomore season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic but he was on pace to have another big year.

Sabato doesn’t have a true position which does hurt his stock a bit but he’s a good fit for a DH in the American League. With MLB potentially going to a universal DH in the future, Sabato could have a lot of value to teams.
