UNC Football: Tar Heels make Top 10 for four-star TE
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Football program cracked the Top 10 for a four-star tight end over the weekend. But it will be a tough battle to land him
Recruiting for the North Carolina football program has hit a bit of a snag here over the past month as it’s been a little quiet due to the recruiting dead period. However, that could change this week for the Tar Heels as they have the potential to add to their Top 5 class in 2021.
But before that happens later in the week, the program received some good news about a four-star target.
Tight end Michael Trigg provided an update on his recruitment over the weekend, breaking down his list of offers into 10 finalists. Among them? The North Carolina Tar Heels.

Joining UNC on Trigg’s list is Michigan State, USC, Auburn, Ohio State, Illinois, South Carolina, Kentucky, LSU and Penn State. That’s a solid list for the tight end with some big time programs making the top 10.
At 6-foot-4 and 230-pounds, Trigg is a four-star prospect that ranks No. 153 overall, No. 5 at tight end and No. 23 in the state of Florida per 247 Sports. He has a total of 48 offers in his recruitment but is now down to 10 teams. Even with the update, it’s still a bit early in his recruitment and there really is no clear favorite to land Trigg.
The Tar Heels have a need at tight end in their offense and landing Trigg would be a boost for that position. Now we just have to sit back and see how the recruitment plays out.
