UNC Basketball: Tar Heels climb updated Bracketology
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Basketball program has climbed up one spot in seeding for Joe Lunardi’s updated Bracketology released on Wednesday
We are still months away from the 2020-21 college basketball season but with the completion of 2020 recruiting classes, players transferring, and declaring for the NBA Draft, a lot has changed roster-wise for programs.
The North Carolina Tar Heels didn’t land any transfers but did see Cole Anthony depart after one season for the 2020 NBA Draft. That was expected and Roy Williams is welcoming in a Top 3 recruiting class as the program looks to reload for next season. That recruiting class could be coming at the right time as the Tar Heels finished a disappointing 14-19 in 2019-20.
But even with that disappointing year, many expect the Tar Heels to rebound this season and put together a normal season in Chapel Hill.
Among them is ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi. The analyst released his updated Bracketology on Wednesday and it included the Tar Heels moving up in seeding.
In Lunardi’s previous version back on May 12th, the Tar Heels were a No. 6 seed in the Midwest Region but since then they have now moved up to a No. 5 seed in the West Region. He also has them matching up with No. 12 Vermont in a region that features No. 1 Gonzaga, No. 2 Wisconsin, No. 3 Texas, and No. 4 Texas Tech.

Of course this is a very early mock and a lot of things will happen between now and tipoff for the 2021 NCAA Tournament. But it’s always fun to see what national analysts think of UNC’s chances and where they potentially stand.
