A top UNC Basketball recruiting target has announced he is transferring schools and will play the final year of high school ball in Kansas.

North Carolina has seven offers out in the 2021 recruiting class as they look to build on a Top 3 one from the 2020 cycle. The future success of this program will determine on these two recruiting classes as Roy Williams and his staff are hoping to rebound from a disappointing 14-19 season in 2019-20.

The Tar Heels have a total of seven active offers out to recruits and one player verbally committed to their class.

Among their targets is five-star point guard Kennedy Chandler. The Memphis, Tennessee native has a total of 27 offers but recently trimmed his list down to five: North Carolina, Duke, Memphis, Tennessee and Kentucky. Chandler will focus on those schools in his recruitment before making a decision.

While there is no major updates on when he will make an announcement, Chandler was in the news on Friday with a decision on his future. Chandler announced he has decided to transfer from Briarcrest Christian in Tennessee to Sunrise Christian Academy in the state of Kansas:

Sunrise Christian Prep is considered a top program in the state and is home to Kansas recruit Zach Clemence. The program also landed John Ese Orogun a recruit out of New York just a few days ago as a transfer.

The program will play in Kevin Durant’s National Hoopfest in Seattle next season.

Chandler is ranked No. 13 overall and the No. 1 point guard in the class per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. In his junior season at Briarcrest Christian, Chandler averaged 22.6 points. 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game and led his team to a runner up position for Division 2-AA title.
