UNC football among 14 finalists for 3-star tight end from Charlotte

While Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels have put together one of the nation’s best recruiting hauls for the 2021 cycle, they have yet to land a commitment from a tight end. They got some good news on that front Wednesday night when 3-star tight end Bryson Nesbit named North Carolina among 14 finalists in his recruitment.

Along with the Tar Heels, Nesbit listed Auburn, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. In doing so, he eliminated the likes of Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Penn State and Virginia.

A 6-foot-6, 220-pound senior from South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nesbit is ranked No. 506 in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s 22nd among tight ends, and No. 29 in the state of North Carolina. The Top247 ranks him slightly lower; No. 35 among players at his position, and 43rd in his home state.

His father, James, was an offensive guard at the University of South Carolina prior to a 10-year career in the NFL with the Panthers, Jaguars and Saints. He was a member of the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV winning team in 2010.
