The 2020 UNC Basketball recruiting class has picked their numbers for the upcoming season as the 16-man roster is revealed

The North Carolina Tar Heels haven’t really been able to be on campus to prep for the upcoming sports seasons but that will change as the calendar flips to June. Not only did the University detail its plans to be back on campus for the school year but the NCAA will allow athletes back on campuses to work out.

It’s a step in the right direction for the upcoming college football and basketball seasons.

For Roy Williams and his staff, they are coming off a disappointing 14-19 season a year ago, the worst in the head coaches’ tenure with the program. But the future is looking bright with a Top 3 recruiting class stepping on campus this Summer.

Before that happens, the program announced some small news regarding that six-man recruiting class as the numbers that each player will wear for the upcoming season have been revealed:

  • Caleb Love #2
  • R.J. Davis #4
  • Day’Ron Sharpe #11
  • Walker Kessler #13
  • Donovan “Puff” Johnson #14
  • Kerwin Walton #24

Those are six of the numbers for the 16-man roster as the returnees are keeping their numbers from previous years.

Looking at the freshman choices, Love opted to go for the #2 which was last worn by point guard Cole Anthony as well as Coby White and Joel Berry. The number has stayed with point guards over the past few years and now Love will carry on that tradition. All three players have received ACC honors at least once in their careers.

The other interesting number is Johnson’s #14. He went one up from his brother, Cameron Johnson, and opted not to wear the #13. Cam wore that #13 for his two seasons in Chapel Hill.
